FAQs

How much do visits cost? Do you take insurance?

The cost of a visit depends on whether we are billing insurance or you are going to pay out of pocket for our time together. I do offer discounts for those that are paying without the support of insurance.

What is the cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment. If you cancel inside of 24 hours, I charge $100 cancellation penalty.

How do I become a patient?

It is really important to build the right relationship with the right provider. If you want to schedule a complimentary 15 minute visit, we can have a conversation and decide if this is a good fit for you.

If we decide to work together, our first official visit lasts anywhere from 30-60 minutes and always begins with, hi, my name is Elizabeth, how's your day today? My second is, have you seen a Naturopath before? After, it will involve asking a series of interview questions about you, your health history, your desired outcomes and more. I will ask questions about diet, exercise, stress, relationships and more to paint a whole picture of your lifestyle. Afterwards, I work with you to order custom lab-work and create a personal health plan. I may give you tips around diet, exercise, and stress management. I might use complementary medicine -- like homeopathy, herbal medicine-- in addition to naturopathic treatments. I might also prescribe medication if needed.

Do you prescribe conventional medications?

I certainly can. We will try to bring balance to the body without prescription medications, but i will not deny a patient what they need. We will decide together what the best course of care is.

Can you order labs? If i have labs, can you help me understand what they mean?

Absolutely. I can order any labs we decide that we need to get more information, including traditional labs and specialty labs. We will review all of your lab results together so that you understand what I see and interpret in the results.

Do you offer vaccines?

No. Not at this time, but happy to talk through what vaccines to get and and when if that is important to you.

Is a virtual visit the same as an office visit?

Pretty much, you will receive the same level of care wherever you choose to sign on to your appointment. Labs will be sent directly to your home as will any nutraceuticals or therapeutics that you decide to use. Most of my patients find the convenience of a virtual visit adds to the quality of their care experience.

Can you be my primary care doctor?

No, not by insurance standards. I am a Naturopathic Specialist.

What is a nutraceutical? Does it require a prescription?

It is a plant or mineral based, clinical grade supplement or food for medicinal use. And yes, it does require a prescription.

What if I need to see you in person?

At this time I won't be doing in person visits, but as soon as I am able, I will make an announcement on social media.

What kinds of treatments do you offer?

I treat a variety of issues concerning women’s health, digestive health and hormone balance. Please see the Conditions I Treat page for more information.

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

It is the holistic, thorough way of practicing medicine that makes naturopathic medicine so helpful to many patients. NDs seek to treat the whole person, not just a narrow range of symptoms, an approach that is particularly helpful when dealing with complex, chronic health problems. NDs understand that achieving lasting wellness is usually a matter of finding balance and health in all areas of life, mind, body, spirit and community. Working with a naturopathic doctor isn't just about getting rid of whatever complaint brought you in the door, but helping you to develop that balance and health.

Naturopathic medicine is also focused on treating the root causes of disease. This is one area in which naturopathic physicians' emphasis on getting to know their patients' histories really pays off, as it gives NDs more knowledge and insight into what could be causing an illness. The goal of treating root causes can also lead to major improvements in a patient's quality of life, even if they've been sick for years.

Naturopathy, or naturopathic medicine, is an approach to medicine that aims to help the body heal itself by using both conventional medicine and natural remedies. Naturopathic doctors (NDs) treat illness from the root cause and are holistic in nature (considering the whole person - mind, body, and spirit). Naturopathic medicine is NOT homeopathy - which is an unregulated form of medicine in the US and founded on very different principles. NDs are also not MDs, though their schooling and licensure are comparable. A naturopathic doctor uses a similar approach to treating patients as functional and integrative medicine practitioners, however the three have very different training programs and credentialing. NDs attend a four-year medical school, just like Western MD’s, complete a residency in naturopathic medicine, and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination (NPLEX) in order to receive a license or registration. NDs are currently recognized in 21 other states. Their schooling includes a lot of the same basic science and physiology as Western medical school, but also includes a more natural/non-invasive curriculum in subjects like plant medicine, nutrition, and sometimes acupuncture.
